COLUMBUS, Ohio – The fifth-ranked Ohio State rowing team earned the No. 1 seed in both the first and second varsity eight races for the Big Ten championships Saturday. The Buckeyes also claimed a No. 2 seed in the second varsity four race.

The first varsity eight is ranked fifth in the nation and completed its regular-season schedule, which included nine nationally-ranked opponents, with a 7-3 record. The second varsity eight was 9-3 overall while the second varsity four was 10-1. Both varsity eight boats earned back-to-back Big Ten Boat of the Week honors this season, with the 1V8 chosen April 4 and the 2V8 chosen April 11.

The Big Ten championships will be hosted by Minnesota Saturday at Lake Phalen in St. Paul, Minn. The Buckeyes are vying for their second conference title after winning the championship in 2002.
