COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Iowa Hawkeyes (12-1 overall, 5-1 Big Ten) scored with 1:13 left in the game to beat the Ohio State Buckeyes (9-4 overall, 2-4 Big Ten), 3-2, Friday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center Turf Field.

Ohio State opened the scoring with a goal by Katie Hobson (Jr., Norristown, Pa.) with 23:13 remaining in the first half. Iowa evened the score on a tally by Lesley Irvine eight minutes into the the second half. The Buckeyes then regained the lead on Hobson’s second goal of the game, assisted by Kimberley Reedy (Jr., Scarborough, Ontario) and Marije van Nouhuys (So., New Lyceum, Netherlands).

OSU goalkeeper Gillian Batey (Victoria, British Columbia) kept the Buckeyes ahead at 2-1 with a stop on a penalty stroke by Iowa’s Tiffany Leister with 16:30 remaining. Leister found the back of the net with just over five minutes remaining to tie the game. Irvine’s second goal of the game, with 1:13 remaining, won the game for the Hawkeyes.

On Sunday, the Buckeyes host Big Ten opponent Northwestern at noon.
