COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4 Ohio State women’s golf team stands in first place with a score of 586 (+10) after the first two rounds of the 2002 Big Ten Championships Friday. The event is being hosted by Illinois at the Par 72 Stone Creek Golf Course (6,215) in Urbana, Ill.

Ohio State, the 2001 Big Ten champions, shot 297 in the first round, followed by a 289. The Boilermakers of Purdue stand in second place at 591 (+15) while Indiana holds third with a score of 597 (+21).

Defending individual medalist Mollie Fankhauser (Jr., Dublin, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls) and teammate Lindsay Knowlton (Fr., Toronto, Canada/Haveral College) share first place with scores of 143 (-1). Natalie Aber (Sr., Akron, Ohio/Springfield) is tied at 150 (+6) in 11th place.

Third round action will continue Saturday while the final round will conclude the tournament Sunday. Teams will tee off at 9 a.m. both days.
