COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio State men’s tennis fell to No. 30 Indiana, 5-2, in Bloomington, Ind. Saturday. The loss moves OSU’s record to 10-8 overall, 4-3 in the Big Ten and the Hoosiers improve to 14-4, 6-2 in the Big Ten.
Indiana, who has won at every doubles position for the previous five matches, swept the Buckeyes in doubles. Buckeye Phil Metz (Fr., Mentor, Ohio/Mentor), played at the No. 2 singles position, defeated Ian Arons in three sets (5-7, 6-3, 6-3). Metz’s overall record is 22-11. Bob Wellstein (Jr., Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) won at the No. 5 singles position against Hoosier Paul Jacobson in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Wellstein’s overall record is 21-10.
Ohio State continues Big Ten play tomorrow at West Lafayette, Ind. against the Purdue Boilermakers.
