%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio- The No. 3 Ohio State rowing team’s first varsity 8 boat, which has not beaten a Michigan first varsity 8 boat in six years, found the result all-too-familiar at the Buckeye Invitational today. The Ohio State first varsity 8 won its morning race over Michigan State and Texas with a time of six minutes, 29.60 seconds but could not overcome Michigan in the afternoon. The Wolverines finished with a time of 6:14.98, 2.76 seconds ahead of the second-place Buckeyes.%^$

%^$The second varsity 8 boat had a strong day winning its races over Texas and Michigan State in the morning at a time of 6:37.60 and beating Michigan and Cincinnati in the afternoon at 6:30.24. The Michigan boat they defeated was the reigning Big Ten Boat of the Week. The first and second novice 8 boats and second varsity 4 also won races, with the second varsity four winning its races in both the morning and afternoon.%^$

%^$Andy Teitelbaum, Ohio State head coach, was happy with what he saw from his entire team Saturday.%^$

%^$”The lower boats, I thought, raced really well,” Teitelbaum said, “(It was) better than they had raced earlier and they showed good speed. The varsity ‘B’ beating Michigan was a great sign for us and even the varsity 4 raced a great race.”%^$

%^$The first varsity 8 boat improves to 10-2 on the season as the entire Buckeye squad now will prepare for their next race April 20 in Bloomington, Ind. against Tulsa and Indiana University.%^$
