EAST LANSING, Mich. – The No. 27 Ohio State women’s tennis team extended its winning streak with a victory, 7-0, over Michigan State Saturday afternoon at the MSU Outdoor Courts. The win extended the Buckeyes’ winning streak to seven, as the squad moved to 15-6 overall, 8-1 Big Ten. The eight conference wins extends a new program record for Big Ten victories in a season. The Spartans fell to 2-13 overall, 0-9 Big Ten.

Ohio State won the doubles point with two victories and a default at No. 3 doubles. The Buckeyes’ No. 1 duo of Kristy Dascoli (Jr., Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Academy) and Monica Rincon (So., Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer West), ranked No. 43, posted a win over Brooke Townsend and Natasha Skogerboe. At No. 2 Sadhaf Pervez (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) and Laura Maloney (Jr., Barrington, Ill./Colorado State) defeated Kathryn Figenshau and Joi McQueen.

The Buckeyes also won at the top four singles spots. Rincon defeated Townsend in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-3. Matko won at No. 2 singles over Skogerboe, 4-6, 6-4 and 7-5. At No. 3 Pervez topped Figenshau, 6-0 and 6-0. Maloney won at the No. 4 spot over McQueen, 6-4, 6-1. OSU won No. 5 and No. 6 by default.

The Buckeyes will end their regular season tomorrow, as they face Michigan. The Big Ten Championships will then be held April 27-29 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
