FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Day One of the 2014 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship ended with Ohio State atop the leaderboard following a 13-over 301 on the extremely challenging Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort. The No. 25 Buckeyes own a one-stroke edge over second place Nebraska (+14) with 18 of 54 holes played.

A trio of Buckeye freshmen can be found in the individual top-5, including freshman Jessica Porvasnik a lone shot off the pace of Day One leader Cassidy Stelzmiller (Nebraska) and in sole possession of second place. Sharing a piece of third place one-third of the way through the competition is Zoe-Beth Brake at 74 (+2) while Katja Pogacar carded a 75 (+3) to earn a tie for fifth.

Upperclassman Claudia Lim was the fourth contributor to the team score, posting a 7-over 79. That round puts her in a tie for 28th with two rounds to go.

Ohio State is in search of its 15th all-time Big Ten Championship and first since 2005 when the Buckeyes took four straight conference crowns from 2002-05.
