COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team logged a second round score 7-under 281 to extend its lead at the Florida Atlantic Spring Break Championship. Competing on the par 72, 6,750-yard Legends Golf Course at the Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach, Fla., the Buckeyes total 559 after 36 holes with 18 left to play.

Ohio State posts a 16-stroke advantage over second-place DePaul. Holding first is Moritz Ackerhans of DePaul, tallying a two-day score of 6-under 138.

Leading the Buckeyes is senior Michael Cress who stands in third after recording a 71 for a two-day total of 139. After shooting an even par through the first nine, the Dublin, Ohio, product carded two birdies in the back nine to offset a bogey for a 1-under par on the day.

Senior Brad Smith and junior Dan Charen hold spots in the top 5 as the pair are tied for fourth at 141. Smith put together another solid 18 holes as the Peru, Ind., native trimmed a stroke of his day one score of 71 for a second-day score of 70. After an opening round of 67, Charen carded a second round score of 74.

Sophomore Jamie Sindelar remained steady as the Horseheads, N.Y., product concluded the round with a 1-under 71 and stands tied for 12th with a two-day total of 143.

Shaving eight strokes off his day one score of 77, senior Bo Hoag recorded a 3-under 69 for 146 to sit tied for 28th.

Competing as individuals are sophomore Matt Turner, junior Alex Redfield and senior Tanner Murphy. Redfield and Murphy are currently tied for 35th with a two-day score of 148 (+4), while Turner 76th at 15-over 159.

The three-day, 54-hole event will continue tomorrow with 11:30 a.m. tee times.
