Scouting The Wildcats
Northwestern enters Thursday’s game 2-2 in the Big Ten after its 69-66 overtime win at Illinois Sunday. They are 13-4 overall, picking up notable non-conference wins against LSU (71-62), BYU (65-64) and Missouri (79-68).
 
The Wildcats feature one of the more experienced backcourts in the Big Ten and lead the conference with 18.4 assists per game, ahead of Ohio State’s 16.1. NU also leads the Big Ten with 5.7 blocked shots per game and ranks second in field goal percentage (.442), 3-point field goal percentage (.359) and assist-turnover ratio (+1.1).
 
Senior center Amy Jaeschke is just behind Jantel Lavender with 23.5 points per game and ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 9.1 rebounds. She leads the Big Ten and ranks third in the country with 67 blocked shots and is coming off a 30-point, five-blocked shot performance at Illinois Sunday. Ohio-native Brittany Orban is second on the team with 13.1 points per game while senior Beth Marshall ranks fourth in the league with 4.4 assists and is second in assist-turnover ratio (+1.9).
