No. 22 Ohio State Hosts No. 11 Michigan, Washington and Kent State in Home Opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 22 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team hosts No. 11 Michigan, Washington and Kent State to open its 2017 home slate at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. John Arena.

SATURDAY PARKING
With multiple events going on in the adjacent French Field House and OSU Ice Rink Saturday afternoon, fans are asked to arrive early prior to the 4 p.m. quad meet in St. John Arena.

A LOOK AT 2017
The Buckeyes return 10 letterwinners off the 2016 NCAA Regional squad and welcome a cast of four newcomers. Included in the 10 returning letterwinners are Kaitlyn Hofland, Alexis Mattern and Jamie Stone, a trio of second team All-Big Ten selections from a season ago.

OHIO STATE OF LATE
The Buckeyes earned a 194.375-192.800 win at Pittsburgh in the 2017 season-opener last Saturday night at Fitzgerald Field House. Alexis Mattern tied her career-best 39.225 to take the all-around title. The junior won the vault and floor exercise titles while placing second on uneven bars. Stefanie Merkle won balance beam with a 9.850. The meet marked the third-consecutive season-opening win for the Buckeyes.

IN THE RANKINGS
Ohio State checks in at No. 22 in the latest Road to Nationals rankings. Other Big Ten teams in the rankings include No. 11 Michigan, No. 18 Minnesota, No. 19 Penn State and No. 24(t) Illinois and Iowa.

The Buckeyes’ 48.800 beam score was tied for 16th nationally over the first week while the 48.725 on vault ranked 22nd.

Mattern tied for the 17th-best all-around score nationally in the first week with a 39.225. Her 9.850 vault score tied for 24th nationally while her 9.850 on floor exercise was the 23rd-best in the country.

TICKETS
Season tickets, on sale now, include a ticket to each of the four home meets and are just $32 for adults and $20 for youth. Single-meet tickets also are on sale now at $8 for adults and $5 for youth.
