RALEIGH, N.C. – Ohio State picked up its first shutout victory of 2018 after getting past Louisville, 4-0, on the final day of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Buckeyes went 3-1 during the tournament and move to 8-1 overall this season.

SHORT STORY

Emily Clark connected on Ohio State’s eighth home run in the last nine games to open the scoring. Ashley Goodwin and Shelby McCombs got in on the action as each drove in runs for the Buckeyes.

IN A NUTSHELL

For the third time this weekend, Ohio State was first on the scoreboard thanks to a two-out solo home run by Clark in the top of the third. It was the fourth homer of the season for Clark, who has 20 in her career.

With two outs in the sixth, a trio of walks stacked the bags for the Buckeyes. After coming in as a pinch hitter, Maddie Marotti reached on a throwing error by the third baseman, which gave Clark time to cross home plate.

The Buckeyes came up with two more runs in the top of the seventh on three hits and an error. Lilli Piper and Clark each singled before Piper made it to third on a fielding error. Up next, Goodwin laid down the sac bunt to score Piper. McCombs followed up with a single down the left field line and Clark sprinted in.

Morgan Ray tossed a complete game for her fourth win of the year. The RHP allowed just three hits, struck out six and only walked two of the 26 batters she faced.
