Buckeyes fire solid final round to maintain Top 3 standing against competitive field

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With a final round of 294, the 21st-ranked Ohio State women’s golf team maintained its tie for third during the final round of play at the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C. The Buckeyes concluded the three-day, 54-hole event with a total of 886 (+22) to tie with No. 4 Duke and No. 22 Vanderbilt on the par 72, 6,323-yard Players Course at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center.

Florida State held on to its top spot to take the tournament title with a total of 873 (+9). The medalist was Cheyenne Woods of Wake Forest who topped the individual leaderboard at 5-under 211. The 18-team field featured 12 teams ranked in the top 30 of the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin ratings.

Freshman Rachel Rohanna was even through her opening six holes but had a five-hole span which produced four bogeys. She settled down in the round with three birdies on her way to her second-consecutive round of 73. The Waynesburg, Pa., native concluded the tournament tied for 14th at 221.

Also tying for 14th at 221 was In Hong Lim. After opening with a bogey, the junior from Melbourne, Australia, went on to make par on 13 holes and fire two birdies for a round of 73.

Despite a final round which included four bogeys and a double-bogey, sophomore Vicky Villanueva was able to find birdies on four holes to finish the day with a round of 74. Totaling 222, the Chacabuco, Argentina, product concluded the tournament tied for 20th.

Amy Meier struggled early in her round with three bogeys and a double-bogey, but had a complete turnaround and ended up carding her lowest round of the tournament with a 74. The freshman from Rochester Hills, Mich., notched six pars and three birdies on her last nine holes to tie for 43rd at 227.

Recording a round of 81, senior captain Emma Jandel slipped into a tie for 54th at 229. Sophomore Nara Shin, competing as an individual, opened with a double-bogey, but concluded the day with back-to-back birdies to card a round of 77 and tie for 84th at 238.

The Buckeyes will have a two-week hiatus before wrapping up their spring slate at their own Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational, April 17-18 at Ohio State’s own Scarlet Course.
