COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 20 Ohio State field hockey team (4-6-0) was defeated by the Ohio Bobcats, 4-1, Tuesday in Athens, Ohio.
Ohio’s Elizabeth Unger scored the first goal 28:14 into the game to put the Bobcats on the scoreboard. The Buckeyes responded five minutes later when junior Vanessa Immordino (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) put the ball in the back of the net on assists from teammates Jenee Doto (Jr., Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) and Stacey Todd (Sr., Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne).
The Bobcats (4-4) recorded three goals in the second half. Jenn Watt scored 48:18 into the game while Kristen Auge scored at 49:40. Unger tallied her second goal at 62:09.
Buckeye goalkeeper Lindsay Williams (Fr., Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) tallied four saves while Ohio goalkeeper Ashley Pitkin also had four saves.
Ohio had a 24-10 shot advantage over the Buckeyes and also had 15 penalty corners to Ohio State’s five.
The Buckeyes return to action at 3 p.m. Friday in Bloomington, Ind. to battle the Hoosiers in a Big Ten conference matchup.
