COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State fencing team competed at the Notre Dame Duals Jan. 31 through Feb. 1 at the Joyce Center Field House in South Bend, Ind. The men’s squad improved to 23-2 overall as they suffered a 15-12 loss to No. 1 Notre Dame. On the women’s side, the team went 7-2 in dual match competition as they fell to No. 1-ranked Notre Dame and No. 5 Northwestern. The lady Buckeyes extend their season record to 22-2. The Notre Dame Duals marked the last dual meet competition of the season for the Buckeyes. Ohio State will not see action until the Midwest Conference Championship March 6-7 in South Bend.

On the men’s side, Ohio State was victorious over Detroit, 27-0, Cleveland State, 27-0, Cal State Fullerton, 24-3, Lawrence, 27-0, UC San Diego, 25-2, Air Force, 21-6, Wayne State, 24-3 and Northwestern, 25-2. Their only loss came against the No. 1 Fighting Irish where the Buckeyes fell 15-12.

The women took seven wins over Detroit, 25-2, Cleveland State, 27-0, Cal State Fullerton, 21-6, Lawrence, 25-2, UC San Diego, 23-4, Air Force, 18-9 and Wayne State, 20-7. They suffered their first two losses of the season to No. 1 Notre Dame, 14-13 and No. 5 Northwestern, 17-10.
