COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 19th-ranked Ohio State (5-7 overall, 3-2 American Lacrosse Conference) women’s lacrosse team lost, 6-4, at 10th-ranked Penn State (9-4, 3-1) Friday night at University Park, Pa. Ohio State’s Kelly Kremer (Fr., Kennett Square, Pa.) scored a team-high two points with a goal and an assist. Penn State’s Emily Chambers and Jessi Lieb produced two goals each and Shari Maslin a goal and an assist for the Nittany Lions.

Ohio State opened the scoring with a goal by Lindsay Weiner (So., Eldersburg, Md.) with 4:48 gone in the game. Penn State responded with four consecutive goals for a 4-1 halftime lead. Lindsay Dutch opened the scoring for the Nittany Lions with a free position goal at 17:04. Chambers made it 2-1 at 19:27 on an assist from Shari Maslin. A free position goal at 20:04 by Leib and an unassisted goal by Chambers at 28:58 gave Penn State a 4-1 margin.

OSU’s Kremer opened the scoring in the second half with an assist from KC Carter (Jr., Birchrunville, Pa.) at 31:42. Penn State goals by Lieb at 34:22 and Maslin at 53:54 put the Nittany Lions ahead, 6-2. Ohio State added goals by Regina Oliver (Sr., Pottstown, Pa.) at 57:22, unassisted, and by Natale Miller (So., Birmingham, Pa.) at 58:37 on an assist by Kremer to cut the Penn State lead to 6-4, but could come no closer.

In goal for Penn State Lee Tortorelli picked up the win (9-4) while collecting 11 saves in the contest. OSU’s Kim Hastings (Jr., Sewickley, Pa.) took the loss (5-7) making nine saves in the game. Ohio State continues the two-game road trip with a Sunday, 1 p.m. contest at Rutgers.
