Forwards Jackie Campbell and Ashley Augspurger paced Colorado State with 18 points each in claiming the championship title in the Third Annual Women’s Sports Foundation Classic played tonight in Ohio State’s Value City Arena. With the victory the Rams, ranked No. 18 by AP/No. 16 USA Today/ESPN, advance to 8-1 on the year. Louisville drops to 5-3.

In first half action, Ashley Venekamp helped keep the Cardinals at bay, registering three, three-point field goals for a game-leading 11 points. Louisville trailed by just one bucket, 20-18 with 3:59 remaining until halftime, when the Rams reeled off 17 unanswered points to enter the locker room with a commanding lead, 37-20.

Despite the deficit, Louisville would not go away. Shooting 62.5 percent from the floor in the second half, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, the Cardinals narrowed the lead to 56-63 with 5:43 to play before seeing Colorado State pull away a final time. Augspurger was key in the stretch, scoring 12 of the Rams’ last 19 points, 10 at the stripe.

An all-tournament team member as well, Augspurger collected a game-high eight rebounds. Guard Sara Nord led Louisville with 17 points and 11 assists, her second straight double-double in the tournament (14 pts/10 assists vs. Ohio State).
