CONWAY, S.C. – Anthony Marks hit a walk-off single to left field as No. 18 Coastal Carolina came back to defeat the Ohio State baseball team, 3-2, in 10 innings Monday evening at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C. With the loss, the Buckeyes (5-2-1) conclude action at the 17th-annual Caravelle Resort Baseball at the Beach Tournament with a 2-2 ledger. Coastal Carolina (5-2) finished with a 3-1 mark.

Down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth, the Chanticleers knocked a run in to force extra innings on a two-out triple to center. After the Buckeyes went down in order in the top of the tenth, a lead-off single and two walks, one intentional, set up the clinching score for the home team in front of 1,831 fans.

STRONG START BY THE ROOKIE
Freshman starting pitcher Ryan Feltner had a solid second outing, limiting the Chanticleers to one run on four hits with three walks and season-high six strikeouts in a no decision. He kept good composure throughout the game, leaving a runner on base in each of the five frames (seven overall).

BUCKEYE SCORING PLAYS
Ohio State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when senior co-captain infielder Nick Sergakis knocked a two-out single to right field to push redshirt junior Jacob Bosiokovic around home plate. In the sixth, the Buckeyes regained the lead when senior first base Zach Ratcliff sent a sacrifice fly to right to score Sergakis.

HOW THE CHANTICLEERS SCORED
Coastal answered in the bottom of the third on a RBI single by G.K. Young. But that’s all the home team would get vs. Feltner in the inning as the OSU freshman fired a fastball over the outside corner of the plate vs. Zach Remillard on a called strike three. Coastal tied the game in the bottom of the ninth when clean-up hitter Remillard knocked a two-out triple off the 20-foot wall in center field vs. Austin Woodby.

BULLPEN TALK
Redshirt junior Joe Stoll replaced Feltner to begin the sixth and faced two batters with a hit by pitch and fly out to left. Redshirt sophomore Austin Woodby tossed the next 3.2 innings and allowed three hits with five strikeouts and one walk. He claimed back-to-back punch outs in the bottom of the seventh to leave two on based and pitched a scoreless eighth. Sophomore reliever Seth Kinker tossed the final frame and gave up one run, two hits with two walks to fall to 0-1.

PLAY OF THE DAY
Junior co-captain Jalen Washington made an outstanding diving catch behind home plate in the bottom of the ninth on a fouled-off pitch for the first out.

HAVE A WEEKEND, MR. SERGAKIS
Senior co-captain Nick Sergakis did not disappoint this weekend back where he started his collegiate career at Coastal. The OSU infielder batted .500 (8-for-16) with two runs scored, two doubles, home run and five RBI (four vs. the Chanticleers).

UP NEXT
Ohio State heads back to Port Charlotte, Fla., next weekend, this time for the real thing. The Buckeyes face Seton Hall, Illinois State and Boston College Friday-Sunday as part of the 2016 Snowbird Classic. Ohio State traveled to Port Charlotte two weeks ago for a spring training weekend at North Charlotte Regional Park.
