The No. 15 Ohio State women’s golf team opened the Mercedes-Benz championships Friday at No. 13 after round one of the event. The team shot 313 at the par 71 Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Purdue leads the field with a score of 288 (+4).

Brittany Adams (Sr., Huntington, W.Va./Cabell Midland) and Stephanie Connelly (Fr., Pasadena, Md./The Pendleton School) were the highest-placed Buckeyes. Both finished tied at No. 32, shooting a 77 (+6). Dana Je (Jr., Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy) shot 79 to finish 50th. Whitney Frykman and Onnarin Sattayabanphot of Purdue and Amanda McCurdy of Arkansas top the leaderboard at 70 (-1).

Jessica Hauser (Fr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) competed in the tournament as an individual. She finished at No. 62, after recording an 81. She hit the best shot of the team, recording an eagle on the par-5 No. 11.

The 54-hole tournament resumes with Round 2 at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and concludes with 18 holes Sunday.
