COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returned to competitive racing and diving for the first time in over a month and defeated Wright State Sunday, 205-82, to improve to 5-0 on the season. The swimming and diving team, ranked 12th nationally in the dual meet rankings, won all 14 events to cruise to the victory.

Senior co-captain Joel Elber, senior Daniel Malnik and sophomores Andrew Elliott and Lincoln Fahrbach won two races apiece to pace the Buckeyes. Elber sprinted to wins in the sprint freestyle events, winning the 50 in 20.71 and the 100 in 45.63. Malnik won both the 50 and 100 breaststroke events in 26.36 and 57.19, respectively.  

Elliott, who leads the team in individual event victories this season, claimed his seventh and eighth dual meet wins in the backstroke events by capturing first in the 50 backstroke in 23.00 and in the 100 backstroke in 50.40.

And Fahrbach doubled up with wins in the 50 (22.72) and 100 (49.63) butterfly events, respectively.

Other Buckeye individual winners included Mark Neiman in the 1000 freestyle, Andrew Olson in the 200 freestyle, Stefan Sigrist in the 500 freestyle and Justin Farra in the 200 individual medley.

Ryan Jefferson and Wes Wieser captured wins for the Buckeyes on the 1- and 3-meter springboard events, as well.

The team’s two coaches – Wright State is coached by Sion Brinn – agreed to swim 50 and 100 race distances in place of the 100 and 200 distances for the breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke events for this meet.
