%^$OXFORD, Ohio – Buckeye freshman JB Bittner scored with 1:46 remaining in overtime to give the No. 12 Ohio State men’s hockey team a 4-3 road victory over CCHA-foe Miami at Goggin Ice Arena. Chris Olsgard and Paul Caponigri led the Buckeyes with two points each.%^$

%^$The teams split the two-game series, as Miami won in overtime in the opener, scoring the winner with one second remaining.%^$

%^$With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 9-4-1 overall and 6-3-1 in CCHA play. Miami drops to 7-5-1 overall 5-4-1 in the conference.%^$

%^$Miami got on the board first, with Mike Glumac scoring a power-play goal, assisted by Jason Deskins and Nick Jardine, at the 6:47 mark after a scramble in front of the net. Olsgard scored his second goal of the season at the 14:43 mark, taking a lead pass from Caponigri, breaking into the RedHawk zone and getting the puck past Miami goalie David Burleigh. The goal broke a scoreless streak of 143:37 for the Buckeyes against Miami. The Buckeyes took a one-goal lead with a 5-on-3 power-play tally by Scott May, his sixth goal of the season, assisted by Doug Andress and Jason Crain. Ohio State outshot Miami, 16-9, in the period.%^$

%^$In the second period, Miami tied the game with an unassisted goal by Jardine 3:30 into the stanza. Miami posted 12 shots on goal in the period, with the Buckeyes recording seven. The Buckeyes best scoring chance came on the power play, as Crain’s shot from the point hit the far post.%^$

%^$In the third period, sophomore defenseman Reed Whiting gave the Buckeyes a 3-2 lead with his first career goal, scoring on a slapshot from the left point 9:38 into the period. Olsgard and Caponigri assisted on the goal. The RedHawks tied the game as Glumac one-timed a pass from behind the net past OSU goalie Mike Betz. In the period, Miami posted 15 shots on goal, with Ohio State recording 10.%^$

%^$For the second consecutive game between the Buckeyes and RedHawks, the game went to overtime. The Buckeyes won the game with 1:46 remaining, as Bittner scored on his own rebound. Mike McCormick won the faceoff in the RedHawks’ zone and Bittner tallied the winner. R.J. Umberger also had an assist on the goal.%^$

%^$For the game, Maimi outshot the Buckeyes, 38-35. The Buckeyes were 1-for-7 on the power play and allowed the RedHawks on goal on six extra-man opportunities.%^$

%^$After a week off for final exams, Ohio State returns to action on the road at Ferris State. The Buckeyes and the Bulldogs will meet at 7:35 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 and at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.%^$
