%^$Big Rapids, Mich. – The No. 12 Ohio State men’s hockey team fell to Central Collegiate Hockey Association -foe Ferris State, 5-2, tonight at Ewigleben Ice Arena. R.J. Umberger led the Buckeyes with two goals in the game.%^$

%^$With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 9-5-1 overall and 6-4-1 in CCHA play. The Bulldogs improve to 8-7-1, 6-7-1 in league play.%^$

%^$The Buckeyes and Bulldogs wrap up the two-game series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in Ewigleben Ice Arena.%^$

%^$The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first period. Phil Lewandowski tallied on the power play at the 6:15 mark, assisted by Carter Thomson and Derek Nesbitt. Nesbitt scored a goal of his own at the 8:41 mark, assisted by Trevor Large. The Buckeyes outshot the Bulldogs, 15-9, in the stanza.%^$

%^$In the second period, both teams tallied twice. Each time the Buckeyes would draw within one, the Bulldogs would respond with a goal shortly after to end the period up, 4-2. Umberger opened the scoring for the Buckeyes with a goal 9:34 into the stanza, beating FSU goalie Mike Brown 5-hole, assisted by Mike McCormick and Jason Crain. After the Buckeyes were called for too many men on the ice, FSU responded with a its second power-play tally of the game, scored by Chris Kunitz and assisted by Matt York and Rob Collins at 13:15. Umberger tallied his second goal of the game at the 14:17 mark. JB Bittner won a faceoff to Umberger in the offensive zone and Umberger beat Brown to bring the score to 3-2. The Bulldogs ended the scoring with a shorthanded goal by Kunitz at 14:17, assisted by Collins.%^$

%^$In the third period, there was no scoring until the Bulldogs’ Collins recorded a short-handed, empty net goal at the 18:11 mark for his third point of the game. The Buckeyes outshot Ferris State, 9-7, in the stanza. The Buckeyes were 0-for-3 on the power play in the period.%^$

%^$The Buckeyes were 0-for-5 on the power play while the Bulldogs scored on 2-of-4 chances. Ohio State outshot the Bulldogs, 33-29, in the game.%^$
