COLUMBUS, Ohio –Ohio State junior Devin Mullings (Freeport, Bahamas/Ft. Lauderdale Prepatory) was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week Tuesday. He shares the award with Wisconsin sophomore Jeremy Sonkin. It is the second career award for Mullings who also received the honor (4/20/05).

Mullings led the Buckeyes to victories over No. 66 Indiana (6-1) and No. 47 Penn State (5-2) April 7 and 9, respectively.

Mullings earned his 19th and 20th singles wins of the season last weekend. He beat David Bubenicek of Indiana 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles spot. Mullings then downed Ryan Berger of Penn State 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 singles spot to collect win No. 20.

In doubles, Mullings won two matches at the No. 2 position with Chris Klingemann (Jr. Bradenton, Fla./Texas Tech Independent). Klingemann and Mullings are 17-1 in doubles competition.

Mullings is the third consecutive Buckeye to named Big Ten men’s tennis Player of the Week, and the fourth overall this season. Freshman Steven Moneke (Alten-Buseck, Germany) collected the award March 8, while Klingemann and senior Ross Wilson (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo St. Francis de Sales) received the award March 29 and April 5.

The Buckeyes next play at Michigan State Saturday and No. 36 Michigan Sunday. The Buckeyes return home April 22 to face Northwestern.
