COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio State men’s soccer team earned All-Ohio honors Monday, as announced by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association. Seniors Tim Gabel and Danny Irizarry, along with junior Doug Verhoff, each earned a spot on the 17-member team.

Gabel, a 2008 co-captain, finished his career with 58 starts at left back and saw action in 71 total games. The recently-named team MVP tallied six goals over the last four years and added 10 assists. Gabel also is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and member of the Second Team All-Big Ten.

Also a co-captain, Irizarry played in 85 career games, making 70 starts as a central midfielder. He led the Buckeyes in 2008 with six goals, including game-winners vs. Florida Gulf Coast and Wisconsin, and had 11 goals for his career. He also is a two-time All-Big Ten selection.

Verhoff completed his second full season as the starting central defender by playing and starting in 19 contests, adding one goal and three assists. He also is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
