COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the fourth time this season and the 12th time in her career, Ohio State senior Kelsey Mitchell has been named the Big Ten’s Player of the Week.
Mitchell averaged 27.0 points 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals in two Buckeye victories last week. She scored 28 points, made five three-pointers and dished-out five assists in the win at Illinois on Tuesday. Then on Senior Day vs. Purdue on Sunday, she scored a game-high 26 points on 4-of-9 from long range and also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds.
The wins vaulted the Buckeyes into a tie for first place in the Big Ten with two games to play. The team claimed a share of its 15th Big Ten Championship last season and will be looking for No. 16 with two wins this week.
The Buckeyes play their final game this season at Value City Arena on Wednesday vs. Northwestern and then travel to Penn State for the regular season finale on Sunday.
