Senior Mitch Richeson was named the Big Ten Diver of the Week Tuesday after winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in the Buckeyes 127-102 loss against Michigan Jan. 29 and the 1-meter board in their 125-118 win over Michigan State Jan. 28.

Richeson (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) scored a season-high 381.52 points on the 1-meter against Michigan, breaking his previous season-high of 343.30 set Nov. 11 vs. Miami (Ohio). Richeson also recorded 329.40 points on the 3-meter board vs. Michigan. During the Michigan State meet he scored 361.87 points on the 1-meter board for a first-place finish and 315.37 points on the 3-meter event for a third-place finish.

This is the second Big Ten accolade Richeson has received this year, but the fourth in his career. His first award this season came on Jan. 18, 2005, for his double-board win over Ohio. He also earned the award on Jan. 3 2004, following the Ohio meet and Nov. 13, 2002, for a win at the Tennessee Diving Invitational.

This season, Richeson has won the 1- and 3-meter event five and four times, respectively. For the 3-meter event his season high is 350.93, from a meet against West Virginia.

Richeson and the Buckeyes return to action for the 2005 Big Ten Championships Feb. 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
