Paul Hamm wins third-consecutive all-around title

COLUMBUS, Ohio Miles Avery, Ohio State men’s gymnastics head coach, lead the U.S. National team to a 367.75 first-place finish at the 2008 Pacific Rim Championships Friday in San Jose, Calif. Avery, who is the personal coach of Paul Hamm, guided the Waukesha, Wis., native to his third-consecutive win in the all-around with a score of 94.45, distancing himself from the competition by more than two points.

The U.S. squad was followed by China in second (356.9), Japan in third (356.1) and Russia in fourth (354.45). At the individual finals Sunday, Hamm took first on pommel horse (15.35) and parallel bars (15.825) while former-Buckeye Raj Bhavsar finished fourth on rings with a 15.55.
