OSU trio featured in Game Day Magazine for W. Michigan series

Cory Schneider
Freshman forward Cory Schneider, a native of Rochester, N.Y., came to Ohio State after playing for the Penticton Vees in the British Columbia Hockey League in 2007-08. He posted 23 goals and 25 assists in 60 games as the Vees won the BCHL title. Schneider played at Northwood Prep for two years with Buckeye sophomore teammate Peter Boyd and received the school’s Malcom Sportsmanship Award. He has played in 10 games for the Buckeyes and posted his first career assist and point vs. Robert Morris Dec. 6.

Taylor Stefishen
North Vancouver, British Columbia, native Taylor Stefishen, a freshman forward for the Buckeyes, spent last season in the BCHL with the Langley Chiefs. He had a team-best 81 points, on 33 goals and 48 assists, and was named the Chiefs’ First Star and played in the BCHL All-Star Game. He also played for the Chiefs in 2006-07 and was named the team’s rookie of the year after recording 56 points, with 31 assists. He is a fifth-round draft pick of the Nashville Predators, who selected him at the 136th spot in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. His brother, Adam, plays professional hockey in the Elite Ice Hockey League in Europe. Stefishen has seen action in five games for the Buckeyes and has three points, including two assists, recordedvs. Bentley Dec. 12.

Steve West, who calls Milford, Mich., home, is a freshman defenseman for the Buckeyes. He is a product of the U.S. National Team Development Program and spent last year with the Under-18 Team, posting nine assists and 11 points in 62 games. With the Under-17 Team in 2006-07 West had 16 points in 65 games. He won a state title with Compuware in 2002 and was on a national championship roller hockey squad in 2004. He has played in five games as a Buckeye and recorded his first career assist and point against Robert Morris Nov. 14.
