Ohio State senior jumps 15 spots after a second-round score of 71
COLUMBUS, Ohio Vaughn Snyder, a senior on the Ohio State men’s golf team, put himself in contention at the 2009 Jones Cup Invitational after firing a 1-under 71 on the 7,321-yard Ocean Forest Golf Club today in Sea Island, Ga.
The Buckeye tri-captain moved up 15 spots during the second day of the event and is tied for fourth with a total of 147, three stokes behind the leader, with 18 holes remaining in the 54-hole tournament. Snyder kept it steady after a front-nine 37, coming back with a 2-under 34 to close out his round.
Oklahoma State’s Morgan Hoffman leads the tournament with a score of 144 after shooting back-to-back rounds of even par. First round leader Kyle Stanley, of Clemson, is tied for second a stroke back after shooting a 75.
The final round begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. with Snyder teeing off the first tee at 11 a.m.
