Sophomore from Upper Arlington posts second-consecutive Top 10 finish
 
COLUMBUS, Ohio Sophomore Bo Hoag continued his consistent play for the Ohio State men’s golf team with his third-consecutive round of 73 to conclude the 54-hole General Jim Hackler Championship tied for third Monday in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Buckeyes took 10th at the event with a total of 912 (+48) after a third-round score of 303 on the par 72, 6,950-yard TPC of Myrtle Beach.

Wake Forest won the event by 10 strokes with a score of 17-over 881. Matt Hill of N.C. State fired a final round of 69 to take medalist honors at 213 (-3) and was the only player in the field to finish under par.

While Ohio State finished 10th out of 14 teams, it bested three nationally-ranked squads in No. 32 Duke (+51), No. 17 and 2008 NCAA Champion UCLA (+58) and No. 5 and Big Ten foe Illinois (+59).

Hoag, a native of Upper Arlington, Ohio, finished 3-over par 219 to tie for third with three others. It was his second-consecutive Top 10 finish after taking eighth last time out at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate and his fourth placement in the Top 10 in six tournaments this season.

Hoag had another steady round Monday making par on 13 holes with three bogeys and two birdies. Throughout his three rounds, Hoag never posted worse than a bogey and made par on 39 out of 54 holes.

Also closing the event with a 73 was junior tri-captain Brad Wright. After starting 2-over on the first nine, the native of Cambridge, Ohio, came back with two birdies and was 1-under on the back nine. He jumped 16 places to finish tied for 48th with a total of 232.

Sophomore Michael Cress had a total of 228 (+12) to tie for 32nd after carding a 79 in the final round. A stroke back from Wright was senior tri-captain Vaughn Snyder who finished with a score of 78 for a total of 233 to tie for 51st.

Freshman Alex Redfield, competing in his first collegiate stroke-play tournament, finished 77th with a sum of 252. He had a third round of 86.

The Buckeyes will next be in action March 27-29 at the FAU Spring Break Championship in Delray Beach, Fla.
