SPOKANE, Wash. – Freshman Julian Meyer put together an inspired performance Saturday at the 2010 U.S. Junior Cross Country Championships.
A regular contributor to the Big Ten runner-up men’s cross country team, Meyer cemented his status as one of the top young runners in the United States with his 12th-place run of 25:08, eclipsing his best collegiate 8k time by more than 90 seconds.
“I like that our distance program is deep enough that we can let young guys like Julian run against national-caliber competition,” Ohio State head coach Robert Gary said. “A 12th-place finish against some of the nation’s top young athletes is remarkable.”
Trevor Dunbar of Portland University won the title with a time of 24:04 as the Top 6 finishers qualified for the 2010 World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
