COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$Ohio State outside hitter Pieter Olree (Sr., Reading, Pa.) has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Player of the Year by a vote of the league coaches. The 6-6 outside hitter was the conference statistical champion in kills per game with a 5.64 per game average. Olree ranked eighth in hitting percentage (.405), 12th in aces per game (.27) and 20th in digs per game (1.43). A four-time MIVA Player of the Week selection, the first team all-conference selection has had double-figure kills in every match this season.%^$

%^$Joining Olree on the all-conference team are Tom Trantow (Jr., River Forest, Ill.) on the second team and Mark Peckham (So., London, Ontario) on the third team. Trantow was the conference champion in service aces with a .54 per game average. He was 13th in hitting percentage (.352), eighth in kills per game (3.59) and eighth in digs per game (1.93). Peckham directed the Buckeye offense and was the conference leader in assists per game at 13.80.%^$

%^$Ohio State (18-10 overall, 11-5 MIVA), ranked 13th nationally, returns to action this weekend in a quarterfinal match of the MIVA Tournament. OSU will host Indiana-Purdue (8-15, 6-10) at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 20.%^$
