COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s track and field team competed in the 99th annual Drake Relays on Friday.

The Buckeyes 4×100-meter relay team of James Manley, Anthony Cole, Curtis Leuenberger and Chimdi Chekwa qualified for the finals Saturday with a time of 41.21. The relay team was the 2008 debut for Chekwa who is also a cornerback on the football team. The 1,600-meter relay team of Jake Edwards, Chad Balyo, Skyler Schmitt and Jeff See took fifth with a time of 17:00.24.

In sprints Anthony Cole took 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.70. In field events Patrick Whalen took sixth in the shot put with a toss of 55 feet, 7 1/2 inches.

Action resumes tomorrow inside Drake Stadium at 8:33 a.m. with the shuttle hurdle relay.
