COLUMBUS, Ohio The second-ranked Ohio State men’s tennis team will break from Big Ten play for a 3 p.m. matchup against Wright State Thursday at Stickney Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio. The match is a late addition to the schedule after an earlier contest was cancelled because of inclement weather.
The Buckeyes collected two wins last week. The Scarlet and Gray beat No. 16 Illinois, 5-2, in Urbana, last Saturday. Ohio State (26-1) then traveled to Purdue Sunday and blanked the Boilermakers, 7-0, in West Lafayette. The two Big Ten victories extended the Buckeyes’ conference win streak to 34-consecutive matches.
Wright State is 1-17 on the season. The Raiders’ lone win came against Valparaiso April 12. Ohio State enters its second match of the season against Wright State leading the all-time series, 3-0. The Scarlet and Gray won the first matchup, 4-0, Feb. 3 in Columbus.
The Buckeyes will host their final regular-season home series of the season this weekend, as they will take on No. 47 Penn State and No. 15 Michigan Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both matches will start at noon. If the Scarlet and Gray win both contests, it will clinch its third-consecutive Big Ten regular-season title.
