COLUMBUS, Ohio – Bryan Koniecko (Fr. Long Island, N.Y./Syosset) advanced to the second qualifying round of the ITA All-American Tennis Championships Monday in Tulsa, Okla. He defeated Tony Haerle of Rice 6-4, 7-6(9). The win was the first for Koniecko as a collegiate tennis player. He entered the tournament ranked among the nation’s 125 players at 120. His next match is 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The upset of the day occurred when Ohio State’s Chris Klingemann (Jr., Bradenton, Fla./Texas Tech Independent) defeated the No. 2 seed in the qualifying round, Marko Bundalo of Colorado 7-6(3), 6-3. Round 2 of the qualifying tournament will be contested Tuesday. Klingemann will play at 11:30 a.m.

Ross Wilson (So., Toledo, Ohio/Toledo St. Francis de Sales) beat Ricardo Gonzales of Georgia in 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the second qualifying round. His second round match is scheduled for noon.

Drew Eberly (So., Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) was one of two Buckeyes to lose on the day. He fell to Ben Harknett of Rice in three sets 3-6, 7-5, 6-0.

Scott Green (Sr., North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) lost his opening round match to Markus Dickhardt of San Diego State 6-4, 7-6

Three days of qualifying matches will take place before the main draw of the tournament begins Thursday. The tournament is being held in Tulsa, Okla. The University of Tulsa is the host school. Matches are being played at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
