COLUMBUS, Ohio Three members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team advanced to the second round of the 2008 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships Thursday at Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. No. 8 Justin Kronauge, No. 9 Bryan Koniecko and No. 11 Steven Moneke will compete on the second day of the championships, which include second-round and quarterfinals competition.

In the first Buckeye match, Moneke defeated No. 10 J.P. Smith of Tennessee in two sets 7-5, 6-2. Moneke will face No. 2 Denes Lukacs of Baylor in the second round. Kronauge, the second Buckeye to compete in the first round, defeated Bassam Beidas of Pepperdine 2-6, 6-1, 6-4. Kronauge will next compete against No. 14 Bruno Rosa of Rice. Koniecko wrapped up first-round play for the Buckeyes and defeated No. 17 Conor Pollock of Texas A&M 7-5, 7-6. The 2008 Big Ten Athlete of the Year will take on Sanam Singh of Virginia Friday afternoon.

Second-round singles action begins at 12:30 p.m. Friday and the singles quarterfinals will follow at 5:30 p.m.
