%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio- Three members of the Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team competed at the 2002 NCAA Championships at the Gabrielsen Natatorium on the University of Georgia campus. It marked the 12th time in the last 13 years that the Buckeyes have competed at the NCAA championships. The University of Texas (512 points) came home first, winning its third consecutive national championship, edging second place Stanford by just 11 points (501).%^$

%^$Diver Heath Knowling (Jr., Anderson, Ind.) placed the highest among the three Buckeyes, finishing 17th in the final round of the 1-meter dive with a score of 282.55. Knowling also placed 31st in the 3-meter dive with a score of 266.45. Chris Monson (Jr., Edmonton, Canada) competed in both diving events as well, placing 28th in the 3-meter dive (282.50) and 29th in the 1-meter (255.05). Nick Rees (Jr., Nassau, Bahamas) competed in the 100 butterfly for the Buckeyes, placing 34th in the preliminary round with a time of :48.53.
