%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio State’s Brian Malich (Sr., Goshen, Ind./Goshen) and Brandon Deters (So., Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) were both eliminated from the 50-freestyle competition yesterday at the Olympic Trials. They are the last two Buckeyes to compete in the U.S. trials.%^$

%^$Malich, who missed the 100-freestyle final by one-tenth of a second in day four of competition, finished 32nd in the 50-freestyle preliminaries with a time of :23.56. Deters tied for 44th with a time of :23.70.%^$

%^$Nick Rees (So., Nassau, Bahamas/St. Augustin) and former OSU member Marko Strahija (Zagreb, Croatia) will represent the Buckeyes at the Sydney Games. Rees will swim the 100-butterfly while Strahija, a ’96 Olympian, will swim in the 100 and 200-backstroke events. Both qualified for the Olympics in their respective countries earlier in the summer.
