The Ohio State men’s soccer team earned its first win at the Bell South Classic in Miami Florida against James Madison, 3-2. The Buckeyes improved their record to 11-5-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the Big Ten.
%^$John Tomaino (Fr., Palatine, Ill.) scored the game winner at 61:00, with OSU playing one man down. Less than two minutes earlier Brian Feldhaus (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) was red carded for violent conduct and ejected from the match forcing the Buckeyes to play a man down.
%^$The Buckeyes defense then went to work, holding JMU scoreless the rest of the way despite eight second-half shots. OSU goalkeeper Kerry Thompson (Jr., Dublin, Ohio) ended the contest with five saves.
%^$Ohio State held a 1-0 halftime lead after a header from Trey Halbredier (Sr., Spring, Texas) at 28:06, but the JMU tied the score just 1:21 into the second half.
%^$At 54:11, OSU grabbed another advantage when Feldhaus struck a goal over the head of JMU’s goalkeeper but the Dukes answered with a goal from 12 yards out to the near post on the right.
%^$The Bell South Classic will continue Sunday as the Buckeyes face host team Florida International University (3-9-1) at 3 p.m.
