COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s soccer team will host a pair of exhibition matches this week in Columbus, beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday when the Buckeyes host Pittsburgh in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium and concluding at 7:30 p.m. Friday when Ohio State and Rutgers meet in Crew Stadium in a College Cup Preview Match. Fans can order tickets over the phone at Ticketmaster (614-431-3600) or online at ticketmaster.com. Gates at Crew Stadium open for the event at 6:30 p.m. Ohio State began its exhibition schedule Saturday with a 5-1 victory vs. Robert Morris. Five Buckeyes found the back of the net as OSU out-shot the Colonials 22-1. The Buckeyes return 11 letterwinners and seven starters from last season’s squad as eighth year head coach John Bluem hopes to take Ohio State back to the NCAA tournament, where the program ventured in 2000 and 2001. The Buckeyes begin the 2004 regular season Sept. 3 against Wake Forest in the Ohio State Classic in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Pittsburgh returns nine starters from last year’s squad, while Rutgers returns eight starters from a squad that finished 11-7-4 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. This year’s match-up with the Scarlet Knights marks the fourth consecutive year Ohio State has played a College Cup Preview Match in Crew Stadium.
