At their January meeting, Dr. Leslie Fine, Associate Professor or Marketing and chair of the University Athletic Council’s Academic Progress and Eligibility Committee presented an Academic Achievement award to Men’s Soccer student-athlete, Peterson Jerome. The award is designed to recognize student-athletes who demonstrate persistence and hard work, overcoming obstacles to succeed in both the classroom and on the playing field.

Peterson Jerome transferred to OSU after All-American recognition as a forward on the Herkimer County Community College soccer team that won the 1997 national championship. He became an integral part of the Soccer Buckeye’s successful 1998 and 1999 campaigns earning Big Ten Player of the Week and Second Team All Big Ten honors.

A Sport and Leisure Studies major in the College of Education, Peterson is scheduled to reach an extremely important personal goal of earning his OSU degree when he graduates Spring 2001. Peterson will certainly continue to be successful as he pursues a career in coaching and management of sport and fitness programs.
