COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University men’s soccer team notched its sixth consecutive victory today by beating Marshall, 5-1, at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes improve their record to 8-3-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Big Ten.

Junior midfielder Brooks Humphreys (Spring, Texas) led the offensive attack for the Buckeyes, scoring two goals while notching two assists. Humphreys’ first goal came in the 7th minute of play, giving the Buckeyes a quick 1-0 lead. Later in the second half, Humphreys assisted John Monebrake (So, Pickerington, Ohio) to give OSU a 2-0 lead at halftime. Humphreys notched his second assist of the day and sixth of the season, in the 63rd minute with a pass to Peterson Jerome (Sr., Spring Valley, N.Y.). He added his second goal of the day late in the second half, sealing the Buckeye victory. Humphreys leads the team with 17 points and is tied with teammate Brian Feldhaus (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) in goals with five.

Marshall’s Wayne Bennet scored the lone goal for the Thundering Herd in the 55th minute of play off of a pass from teammate Dallas Tennant.

The Buckeyes are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 10 when they travel to East Lansing, Mich. to face Big Ten foe Michigan State. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
