Columbus – The Ohio State Men’s Lacrosse team soundly defeated the Virginia Military Institute Keydets 13-4 this afternoon before 106 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Sandy Boyce (So., Butler, Md.) got the Buckeyes (7-3, 1-1) rolling in the first quarter with back to back goals at the 9:29 and 8:47 marks of the first quarter, putting the Bucks up 2-1 and giving them a lead they would never relinquish. Boyce, and teammate Buddy Lange (Jr., Annandale, N.J.) each scored four goals on the afternoon.

VMI (5-8) was able to crawl back in the game only trailing 6-3 at the half. The Keydets’ Matt Gallienne, who led the team with two goals, closed the gap to 6-4 at the 9:58 mark of the third quarter, but Ohio State reeled off seven straight goals to account for the final of 13-4.

The Buckeyes were able to play many players including Chris Cirino (Jr., Westport, Conn.) who scored his second goal of the season. Ben Kochalski (Fr., Worthington, Ohio) saw five minutes of action in relief of Mike Abeles (Jr., Westfield, N.J.). They stopped 11 and 3 shots respectively.

Tim Houston (Garden City, N.J.) and Kevin Johnson (Sr., Penfield, N.Y.) each scored once and added two assists. Ohio State travels to the state of Colorado this weekend for a Saturday game at Air Force and a Monday game against Denver. Each game time is 1:00 p.m. Mountain time.
