COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team used a six goal second quarter to shoot past the Stony Brook Seawolves 12-8 today at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Kevin Johnson (Sr., Penfield, N.Y.) recorded a hat-trick and two assists while Greg Zytkowski (Jr., North Olmstead, Ohio) scored twice and assisted on three other Buckeye goals.

Stony Brook (3-5) jumped out to a 4-3 lead after one quarter, but Ohio State (6-3, 1-1) scored six times in the second quarter, the most goals in a quarter this season, to take a 9-4 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Kevin Stephan (Massapequa, N.Y.) continued his solid play scoring twice and assisting on two others, while Mickey O’Connor (So., Palm City, Fla.) also scored twice and added an assist.

Mike Abeles (Jr., Westfield, N.J.) turned in a solid 23 save effort. Nineteen of his saves came in the second half.

Vin Miller led the Seawolves with two goals, both in the fourth quarter.

Ohio State returns to action Wednesday when they host VMI at 3:30.
