COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State seniors Randy Monahan (Elizabethtown, Pa./Central Pa. Academy of Gymnastics) and Cody Trobaugh (Houston, Texas/Houston Gym. Academy) were selected team captains for the 2005 season by their teammates, OSU head coach Miles Avery announced Sunday at the Buckeyes’ annual alumni exhibition.

The alumni exhibition was held to honor the history of OSU gymnastics and past Ohio State gymnastics greats.

This is the second time Monahan was named team captain, as he earned the honor last season as a junior. Monahan is a four-time All-American in the all-around and high bar and a two-time Big Ten champion in the all-around. Monahan also holds the NCAA all-around record with a score of 56.50.

Trobaugh is a steady competitor, participating in 27-of-29 Buckeye meets over his three-year OSU career. In 2004 Trobaugh qualified for the NCAA individual event finals for the second-consecutive year. In 2003 Trobaugh advanced to the floor and rings event finals and in 2004 qualified for the rings final.

Ohio State opens the 2005 season at the Windy City Invitational at 7 p.m. Saturday at the UIC Physical Education Building in Chicago. The Buckeyes commence the regular season home schedule against Illinois-Chicago at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at St. John Arena.
