The Ohio State men’s gymnastics team competed in the team intrasquad scrimmage Friday at St. John Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The two teams of scarlet and gray competed on all five events and when the scores were tallied, team scarlet prevailed over team gray, 163.45-158.90. This is team scarlet’s second-consecutive victory over the gray, as they compiled an 81.8-80.775 victory last year.

Senior Randy Monahan (Elizabethtown, Pa./Central Pa. Academy of Gym.) executed the highest scoring performance with a 9.60 on high bar for the scarlet team. Willie Ito (So., Huntington Beach, Calif./South Coast Gym.) of the gray team, posted a team high of 9.50 on high bar.

“I think as a group we certainly are ahead of schedule compared to last year,” Miles Avery, head coach, said. “I was impressed with both the upperclassmen and the freshmen.”

Up next for Ohio State is the Varsity Exhibition at 2 p.m. Jan. 2 at the Steelwood Athletic Training Facility in Columbus, Ohio.
