COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team opened competition Monday at the Aztec Invitational. After two rounds, the Buckeyes are tied for ninth (287-290=577) with Texas El-Paso (290-287=577). The tournament is being played at the par-72, 7,088-yard, Barona Creek Golf Course in Lakeside, Calif.

Zach Doran (Jr., Dublin, Ohio) leads the Buckeyes. He fired a pair of 70s (140) and enters the final round just five shots off the individual lead held by Denver’s Shawn Wills (76-68=135).

Denver is the team leader of the 54-hole tournament at 277-282=559, six strokes ahead of the host Aztecs of San Diego State (276-289=565). Ohio State won the event in 2001.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
