COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team opened play at the 2004 NCAA Regional Championships and are tied for eighth after one round. The event is hosted by the Purdue University and is being held at the par 72, 7,259-yard Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind.

Senior Scott Anderson (Great Falls, Mont./Great Falls) opened with a team best, two-over-par 74 and is tied for 25th heading into round two. Anderson finished the front nine by firing even par. On the back nine, Anderson started slow as he bogeyed holes 10 and 12, but on the last five holes he rebounded by birding three of the last five.

Big Ten medalist Kevin Hall (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Rita School for the Deaf) is tied for 45th after carding a round of four-over-par 76.

The Top 10 teams in the event will move to compete in the 2004 NCAA Championships in Hot Springs, Va.

Play resumes tomorrow at 7:12 a.m. with Ohio State teeing off at 11:51 a.m.
