COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team concluded the fall season Sunday with an impressive second-place finish at the 2003 Landfall Tradition. The Buckeyes’ second-place finish marks the highest finish since the 2003 Kepler Intercollegiate where the team finished first. The Landfall tournament marked the second time this fall the Buckeyes finished in the Top 5. The event was held at the par 72, 6,973-yard, Country Club of Landfall, Nicklaus Course, in Wilmington, N.C.

Leading the way for the Buckeyes was senior Brett Williams (Circleville, Ohio/Otterbein), who posted his second Top 10 finish of the fall season as he tied for sixth overall. Williams posted a final round of two-under-par 70 to finish the event with a three-round total of 213.

The Buckeyes also received a strong showing from Justin Collins (Ironton, Ohio/Ironton) as he finished the event 11th with a three-round total of 215.

Justin Smith of Minnesota won medallist honors with a total 208, while Minnesota captured the team title with a three-round total of 851.

The Ohio State men’s golf team returns to action Jan. 31-Feb. 1, 2004 to compete in the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
