Columbus, Ohio— Ohio State finished the first day of the First Energy Intercollegiate Invitatitational, hosted by the University of Akron at the fabled Firestone Country Club, in first place after shooting three-under par with a score of 573.

The Buckeyes are 21 strokes ahead of Wisconsin, Kent State and Iowa, who are tied for second place with two-round total of 594.

OSU heads into the final round with four golfers placed in the top six.

David Wagenseller (So., Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) finished day one of the invitational in first place with a score of 141. Mike Austin (Jr., Burton, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic) shot a 143 to place second, he is followed by Jason Oien (So., Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North), who is in fourth place with a score of 144 and Ryan Dennis (So., Stow, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) who shot a 145, good for sixth place.

The final round of the invitational will begin Easter Sunday with a shot-gun start at 8 a.m.
