COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team concluded play Tuesday with a fifth-place finish at the 2004 Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif. The Buckeyes posted a final-round score of 289 to finish the event with a three-round total of 845 en route to its best finish of the 2004 fall season. The event hosted by San Diego State University, was held at the par 72, 7,043-yard Barona Creek Golf Course.

Ohio State senior Scott Anderson (Great Falls, Mont./Great Falls) paced the Buckeyes for the third time this season as he finished ninth with a total of 208, which marks his best three-round total and finish of the fall season.

Teammates Zack Randol (Jr., Lawrence, N.Y./Woodberry Forest) and Colin Biles (So., Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) also posted season-best finishes. Randol finished the event 14th, while Biles tied for 15th.

Brigham Young University won the event with a three-round total of 822, while Oscar Alvarez of BYU defeated Denver’s James Love in a playoff to capture medalist honors. Alvarez finished the event with a total of 203

The Ohio State men’s golf team returns to action Friday as they compete in the 2004 Landfall Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.
